Kenya’s High Court has ruled that President William Ruto’s cabinet does not meet the country’s constitutional requirements on gender representation, giving him 120 days to correct the imbalance.

The Judges found that the cabinet includes fewer women than required by the constitution.

However, it did not dissolve it or overturn any decisions it has already made.

The Law Society of Kenya, which was among the parties that brought the case, says the ruling recognises that the cabinet is improperly constituted while allowing it to continue functioning.
