Last few years have seen unpredictable climatic patterns in Kenya
Senior Climatologist from the North West University in South Africa (SA) Dr Steve Balaka Opiyo says the last few years have seen unpredictable climatic patterns in Kenya.
He adds that over the last few years the temperatures in Kenya have been generally increasing.
The rainfall is highly variable or highly unpredictable, there is years of very intense rainfall and then years of little to no rainfall.
The situation has severely affected food production with rising food prices and farmers complaining that the situation is severely hampering their production.

The consequences of the unpredictable weather patterns can be floods and drought, heatwaves which have been reported in the country..

This weather affects agricultural production and security significantly.
