Concerns are mounting over plans to develop 100 acres of upland forest within Nairobi National Park.

Environmental group Green Belt Movement has stressed that the park is not vacant land awaiting construction, but a critical ecological asset that supports biodiversity, climate resilience, tourism, and the well-being of current and future generations.

The organisation, alongside other environmental groups, is calling for the immediate suspension of any planned construction.

They say the plan need meaningful public participation.

They mentioned that they want assurance that the development will not come at the expense of protected ecosystems.
