The opposition in Kenya has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the government to reduce fuel prices

The opposition in Kenya has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the government to reduce fuel prices, warning of nationwide protests if no action is taken.

The warning comes amid growing public anger over the rising cost of living, with transport and food prices continuing to climb in recent months.

At the same time, a section of young people, widely referred to as Gen Z, have announced plans to begin demonstrations as early as tomorrow, adding momentum to the pressure on authorities.

The opposition says the government must act swiftly to ease the burden on citizens or risk triggering co-ordinated protests across the country.

Authorities have yet to officially respond to the ultimatum, but tensions are rising as concerns over affordability and economic hardship deepen.
