Kenya is expected to receive around $400 million in emergency financing from the World Bank within six weeks to buffer its economy against mounting health and climate risks.
According to Reuters, a source familiar with the matter revealed that the fast-disbursing funds will be released under the multilateral lender’s emergency response mechanisms.
The financial package aims to cushion the East African nation against external economic shocks and emerging regional health threats, including potential spillover risks from the ongoing Ebola outbreak in Central Africa, as well as severe climate disruptions.
The support comes as Kenya works to maintain fiscal stability amid tighter borrowing conditions and pressing public spending demands.
