Kenyan Golf Professional David Wakhu put on a clinic at the Ruiru Sports Club, walking away with the fifth-leg title of the PGK Equator Tour after a gripping three-day tournament wrapped up on Sunday.
Wakhu, who plays out of Nairobi’s Golf Park, held his nerve to finish the four rounds at ten-under-par (274). It was an incredibly tight race to the finish line, with a competitive field of 50 pros breathing down his neck.
In the end, he did just enough to edge out Greg Snow of the Muthaiga Golf Club, who pushed him all the way to finish just a single stroke behind at nine-under-par. Meanwhile, Samuel Chege kept up his great run of form this season, tying for third place alongside John Lejirma at seven-under-par.
The players won’t have much time to rest, as the tour now moves to the city of Nakuru, located in Kenya in two weeks for the sixth leg. The stakes are getting incredibly high, as the field is desperately hunting for Order of Merit points to qualify for both the Magical Kenya Open and the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
