Kenya’s President state visit to SA to focus on trade, investment

Kenya remains one of SA’s largest trading partners on the African continent outside the Southern African Development Community.

South Africa’s (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa will host his Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto, at the Union Buildings.

The three-day state visit, which concludes on Friday, will begin with an official welcoming ceremony and discussions aimed at deepening economic cooperation between the two countries.

The visit is expected to focus on facilitating business partnerships and exploring ways to unlock the full potential of trade and investment between SA and Kenya.

SA and Kenya have signed 28 agreements and memoranda of understanding across various sectors and have undertaken reciprocal state visits in 2021 and 2022.

Kenya remains one of SA’s largest trading partners on the African continent outside the Southern African Development Community.

More than 60 SA companies currently operate in Kenya, with investments spanning several sectors of the economy.

The state visit is expected to reinforce bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation on economic and trade matters between the two countries.
