The Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini has rubbished reports that it owns a “Eswatini-flagged” vessel that has been seized in Iran
A Revolutionary Guards navy commander announced yesterday that Iranian authorities had intercepted a vessel carrying 350 000 litres of smuggled fuel. The Kingdom of eSwatini has reiterated that it has no operational ship registry, nor has it appointed, mandated, or authorised any individual, company, or foreign agent to register vessels on its behalf. Times of eSwatini News Editor, Mbongiseni Ndzimandze says these reports are unfounded.
“I think its not true and dumfounded these reports are appearing for the second time I think if you read the statement there that’s what the government is saying that there should be a proper investigation that it is asked from some international bodies to assist to find the people behind this because they solely believe that these are criminals who are trying to use Eswatini and I think the investigation will really reveal who is behind this because even the government want to know who wants to know this. Because I think if you can note these are appearing for the second time that there are vessels from Eswatini around the world,” he said.
