Lassa fever outbreak
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) reports that the death toll from the outbreak of Lassa fever in Nigeria has risen to 191.
This follows as the health authorities warning of increasing infections recorded across several states in the country.
The NCDC says the rising infections reflect persistent gaps in early detection and community response.
The agency is currently working with partners including the World Health Organisation, the United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and Médecins Sans Frontier among others to strengthen surveillance and response.
