Kaizer Chiefs have scored a late equaliser in injury time to secure a 1–1 draw against Zamalek of Egypt in their CAF Confederation Cup Group D encounter in Polokwana, South Africa’s (SA) Limpopo province, on Saturday.

Chiefs conceded early in the first half after another defensive blunder by Angolan international Inácio Miguel.

Amakhosi went into the match under pressure, having lost their opening CAF Confederation Cup fixture against another Egyptian club, Al Masary, last Sunday. But it was not a good start for the home side, who found themselves behind within minutes.

Chiefs then suffered a major setback when Gastón Sirino was forced off with an injury in the 17th minute.

Zamalek came close to doubling their lead early in the second half, but the effort was cleared off the line. Chiefs, however, persisted and found the equaliser in injury time through defender Dylan Solomons, capitalising on a goalkeeping error to rescue a crucial point.
