Lesotho and China have held their third-quarter bilateral co-operation dialogue, focusing on strengthening ties and advancing co-operation between the two countries.
The talks covered bilateral relations, political trust and China’s One-China Principle.
China’s Ambassador to Lesotho, Yang Xiaokun says, “We have agreed to focus our discussions on four areas: political mutual trust and high-level exchanges, the One-China principle and the Taiwan question, the follow-up to the visit of Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation(FOCAC) and finally, multilateral co-operation.
“After several busy months, we completed the system for less subtle exports to enjoy China’s zero tariff policy. The system is ready. I am expecting product opportunities for less subtle products to enter the Chinese market and enjoy that zero tariff policy.”
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary of Lesotho’s Foreign Affairs, Thabang Lekhela, said the engagements will further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
“Let us use this mechanism to ensure that a political goodwill is matched by co-ordinated implementation, sustained dialogue, and indeed measurable outcomes that will transform the lives of this country, the lives of the peoples of this country, and indeed the development landscape of our beloved country.”
