The upcoming leadership election of the Liberia Football Association (FA) has taken a dramatic turn after the Elections Committee disqualified leading presidential contender Cassell A. Kuoh.
The decision leaves incumbent President Mustapha I. Raji as the only candidate in the race ahead of the May 2026 Elective Congress.
Out of 29 aspirants, 27 were cleared to contest various positions, but Kuoh, widely seen as Raji’s strongest challenger, was ruled ineligible.
According to the Elections Committee, Kuoh’s disqualification is based on provisions in the association’s statutes that bar individuals with prior criminal convictions from holding leadership positions.
The development has effectively settled the presidential race before voting begins, raising concerns about the competitiveness of the process.
The elective congress is scheduled to take place on May 15 in Paynesville City.
