Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says its plan to evacuate Ghanaian nationals from South Africa (SA) , which was due to begin this Thursday, has been delayed due to logistical issues.
The Ministry says the process has been deferred by a few days.
The Ministry says more than 800 Ghanaians have registered with the High Commission in Pretoria, Gauteng province seeking to return home.
According to a statement, the delay is due to legal and logistical requirements, including mandatory passenger screening, multi-institutional coordination and flight permits.
The move follows a recent wave of protests in parts of the country against undocumented immigrants.
