The two bodies were set up by President Cyril Ramaphosa to investigate explosive allegations of criminal infiltration and political interference within law-enforcement institutions.
Cachalia was speaking in Pretoria on Friday during the release of the latest quarterly crime statistics, where he stressed the severity of organised crime and its corrosive impact on governance, safety and economic stability.
“Organised crime is a direct threat to the safety of our people, to the growth of our economy, to the prosperity of our country, and is a threat to our national security,” Cachalia said.
He warned that criminal networks continue to fuel violence, undermine public trust and weaken democratic institutions, often operating under the guise of legitimate business.
“These criminals, as we have seen recently, wear fancy suits and designer clothes, pretending that they are legitimate business people,” he said.
Cachalia said the work of the Madlanga Commission and the Ad Hoc Committee will be essential in restoring integrity, accountability and public confidence in the criminal justice system.
