Leaders across Malawi have been sharing their thoughts on President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s first 100 days in office since last year’s election.
George Mhango praised some of the president’s early steps but emphasised the need for steady action to tackle the country’s challenges. “The first 100 days are always important,” Mhango said. “It’s a chance to show direction, build confidence, and set the tone for effective leadership.”
Other political commentators and civil society figures have called on the government to focus on stabilising the economy, improving public services, and engaging more inclusively with citizens. While some applaud the administration’s initial efforts to fight corruption and strengthen institutions, critics warn that promises alone will not be enough to win public trust.
As Malawi moves forward, the early months of Mutharika’s presidency are under close scrutiny, with the country watching to see whether these first actions will translate into real, lasting change.
