Malawi is today commemorating the second anniversary of the plane crash that claimed the life of former Vice-President Saulos Chilima and eight other people.

The military aircraft crashed in the Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba District on June 10, 2024, killing all nine people on board. The tragedy shocked the nation and prompted an outpouring of grief across Malawi and the wider region.

Commemorative events are being held to honour the victims, with political leaders, family members and citizens reflecting on Chilima’s legacy and the impact of the disaster on the country.
