Malawi government, through the National Food Reserve Agency , has resumed buying maize from farmers

The Malawi government, through the National Food Reserve Agency , has resumed buying maize from farmers after a temporary suspension caused by a shortage of funds.

The halt in purchases in recent days had raised concern among farmers who rely on the programme as a key market for their produce. Authorities say the buying process is now back on track following the release of additional funds.

The move is expected to bring relief to growers and help stabilise maize supplies for the country’s strategic food reserves.
