Government of Malawi has welcomed an additional $25 million funding package from the World Health Organisation (WHO) to strengthen the country’s health system and improve service delivery.
The announcement came during a meeting in Lilongwe between WHO Country Representative Charles Kuria Njuguna and Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation Charles Chilambula.
Of the total, $8 million has been earmarked for upgrading the nation’s laboratory system, focusing on improving infrastructure and equipping laboratories with modern technology.
The funding aims to enhance diagnostic capacity, support timely disease detection, and improve overall healthcare outcomes for Malawians.
