Government officials and religious leaders in Mali have held a major national gathering aimed at easing religious tensions and building social cohesion as the country continues its difficult search for long-term peace.
The event, marking the National Day of Muslim Unity, was organised by the High Islamic Council of Mali. It brought together top Islamic authorities and state officials to advocate for peaceful coexistence across Mali’s diverse communities.
The initiative comes at a critical time for the West African nation, where citizens are increasingly desperate for an end to years of instability and a permanent return to safety.
