Mali’s General Staff of the Armed Forces announced on Thursday the release of 82 Malian Armed Forces personnel who had been held hostage since April 25 by armed terrorist groups affiliated with the JNIM/FLA coalition.
In an official statement, the military command confirmed that the freed soldiers “are now safe and being cared for by the relevant services.”
While military authorities have not disclosed the exact circumstances surrounding the release, the simultaneous discharge of such a large group of soldiers suggests the existence of direct or indirect communication channels between the parties.
