Mali’s military-led government is taking a bold step to reshape how the country benefits from its vast natural resources.
Authorities have begun distributing approximately $ 33 million in mining revenues.
The distribution is directed to municipalities through a Local Mining Development Fund, designed to ensure that communities living near mining operations see tangible benefits.
The move follows recent changes to Mali’s mining code, part of a wider push across Africa to secure greater value from extractive industries and drive local development.
