Speakers at the annual Manufacturing Indaba Conference in Sandton, north of Johannesburg in South Africa’s Gauteng province, have emphasised the importance of a strong and efficient manufacturing sector as a driver of economic growth and job creation.
Delegates heard that manufacturing output has halved over the past 30 years, declining from around 22% of Gross Domestic Product in 1994 to just 12% currently.
