Reflecting on the loss to his former club, he conceded the team failed to capitalise on key chances earlier in the group stage, leaving them with too much to do in their final fixture. Mokwena said arriving at Loftus Versfeld needing at least a point against a determined Sundowns was always going to be a tall order.
“We didn’t get knockout out today, If you review our participation in the champions league we let it go and we were away in Rwanda and conceded first and in the last 10 minutes to lose it 2-1 away from home. We had a lot of chances against Sundowns and its important to win our home games in the champions league and then we take a one when we could have taken three and that made a huge difference,” he said.
