The former President of Malawi Dr Bakili Muluzi who was leading a team that was trying to mediate between the Zambian government and Edgar Lungu’s family, which would have led to Lungu’s body being repatriated to Lusaka has announced that the mediation team will not continue.
Muluzi has thanked all stakeholders in the matter including religious leaders and the South African government for supporting efforts to get an agreement on the reparation of Lungu’s body.
The mediation team has withdrawn from the mediation process due to the inability to reach a conclusive pathway forward.
Muluzi says the mediation is formally returning the matter to the family, Zambian people, Zambian government and other stakeholders.
