South Africa’s (SA) Gauteng Province government will this morning host a memorial service for the 14 learners who tragically lost their lives.
The scholars lost their lives following an accident on Monday morning while they were on their way to school in Vanderbijlpark, when their minibus taxi collided head-on with a side-tipper truck.
Speaking to SA Broadcasting Corporation News, Gauteng Education Spokesperson Steve Mabona said the lives of the learners deserve to be celebrated, considering how they perished.
Mabona said the surviving three learners are recovering at different medical facilities.
A joint funeral service is expected to take place on Sunday.
