Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, is facing a major legal challenge in the United States.

Twenty-nine states accuse the company of deliberately designing its platforms to keep children engaged, with potentially harmful consequences, in pursuit of profit.

The states are seeking potentially billions of Dollars in penalties, as well as changes to how Meta operates its platforms.

However, the company Meta is denying the allegations.
