The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) in Botswana has expressed serious concern over growing pressures on journalists in the country.
In recent months, reporters have faced repeated public attacks, including claims of spreading false information, acting unethically, or failing to maintain professional standards. MISA described these actions as attempts to weaken press independence and warned they could undermine public confidence in the media.
The organisation urged government authorities to uphold journalists’ rights and ensure they can carry out their work freely and without intimidation.
