The postponement comes after authorities discovered tampering with sealed exam envelopes.

The Ministry of Education in Mozambique has cancelled and rescheduled final exams for 9th-grade learners following a widespread cheating scandal involving leaked exam papers. Initially set for November 26 and 27, the exams will now be written on December 8 and 9.

The postponement comes after authorities discovered tampering with sealed exam envelopes, particularly in Milange in the Zambézia province. Ministry spokesperson Silvestre Dava says an investigation is under way, and public officials found responsible could face disciplinary and criminal charges.

Despite speculation that the leak may be linked to a possible teacher boycott, the Ministry says it has full confidence in the majority of educators. It has also vowed to take firm action against anyone implicated in compromising the examination process.
