Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo has indicated that his government may challenge the revised budget and timeline submitted by French energy giant TotalEnergies for its liquefied natural gas 9LNG) project in the country
The company recently informed President Chapo that the Mozambique LNG consortium now expects project costs to have risen by $4.5 billion, following a four-year suspension triggered by an Islamist militant attack in 2021.
TotalEnergies and its partners want the development and production period extended by 10 years as partial compensation.
