In Republic of the Congo, President Denis Sassou Nguesso has been sworn in for a new five-year term following his re-election.
The ceremony took place in Kintélé, with several regional leaders in attendance.
Speaking on the development, activist Jurol Loemba said the new term comes with high expectations, particularly around governance and accountability, adding that “people will be watching closely to see whether there is any real change on the ground.”
