Niger has become the latest member of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) to sign up to the United States Global Health Strategy, marking a step toward strengthening international co-operation on health systems and disease prevention.
According to Political Scientist and Conflict Resolution Analyst, Dr David Matsanga , the agreement is expected to support efforts to improve health security, expand access to essential healthcare services and strengthen disease surveillance and response systems across Niger’s public health sector.
Health officials say the partnership will help mobilise technical and financial support to address communicable diseases, maternal and child health challenges, and broader health system gaps in the country.
