Nigeria’s government has admitted that it was involved in intelligence gathering that led to the United States (US) air strikes in the North West of Nigeria.
President Donald Trump claims that the air strikes were deadly.
The US earlier warned that its War Department would take action against what it labels terror activities targeting Christians in the west African country.
Thursday night’s air strikes are the result of collaboration between America’s military and Nigeria’s intelligence services.
There has been mixed reaction to the attacks with some questioning the US actions on foreign soil while others fear this will lead to escalation of tensions in the North West Nigeria.
The Nigerian government was quick to clarify that the current security challenges in that part of country are not targeted at the Christian population only.
However, Trump writing on social media platform X said Christians are targeted and the US will not hesitate to protect Nigeria’s Christian community.
