Tinubu orders probe into $950 000 ‘ghost’ agency discovered inside Presidency

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has ordered an immediate investigation after a completely fake government agency was discovered operating right inside his own office, walking away with nearly a million Dollars in public funds.

Officials say fraudsters successfully forged an official letter to set up the dummy entity, called the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. The fake council managed to siphon $950 000 in state money before anyone noticed something was wrong.

The scandal has caused a massive stir in Nigeria, with opposition politicians and activist groups calling for a completely independent inquiry into how a scam of this scale could happen inside the nation’s highest office.

Police have already questioned three staff members working in the Presidency and are currently hunting for Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, the man who claims to be the agency’s Director. Matthew faces forgery and impersonation charges in court later this month.

While he insists the council was legally set up two years ago to bring foreign investment into Nigeria, investigators say they cannot find a single record of any deal the agency has ever actually done.
