Nigeria has formally submitted its bid to host the 2031 Africa Games, reaffirming its ambition to use sport as a catalyst for national development.
The bid was presented to the African Union Sports Council (AUSC), signalling Nigeria’s intention to once again welcome Africa’s premier multi-sport event, nearly 25 years after successfully hosting the 2003 Africa Games.
According to officials, Nigeria’s bid is guided by a forward-looking vision that positions sport as a tool for economic growth, youth development and continental integration.
The presentation was made during high-level engagements with the AUSC, where Nigeria reiterated its readiness and capacity to deliver a world-class continental festival.
Nigeria has previously demonstrated strong organisational capability, having successfully hosted several major international sporting events, bolstering confidence in its ability to stage the Games once again.
The AUSC is expected to evaluate bids before announcing the host nation for the 2031 Africa Games.
