Armed with little more than whips and determination, women in Nigeria’s Jos have formed an all-female vigilante group to confront rising violence and insecurity in their community.
The group says it was created in response to persistent attacks and a lack of adequate protection, with members stepping in to help safeguard neighbourhoods.
Operating largely at night, the women patrol streets and alert authorities to suspicious activity, relying on local knowledge and community networks.
Residents say the initiative reflects growing frustration over insecurity, but also highlights the role of grassroots efforts in filling gaps in protection.
