Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ordered immediate administrative fixes across all 36 state offices to eliminate operational gaps ahead of the 2027 general elections, while economic policy body, the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE) has simultaneously urged the government to urgently translate macroeconomic stabilisation into lower living costs.
Lagos Talks radio reports that newly installed electoral chief Professor Joash Amupitan directed national administrative secretaries to standardise logistics, resolve voter registration portal bottlenecks, and protect electoral technology against trust deficits and disinformation ahead of the 2027 polls.
Meanwhile, CPPE Chief Executive Officer Dr Muda Yusuf warned that while government revenues, foreign exchange reserves, and exchange rates have stabilised, structural bottlenecks like high interest rates, elevated fuel prices, and soaring food inflation continue to cripple households and small businesses.
The private sector think tank called on all three tiers of government to aggressively cut borrowing costs, fix farm-to-market feeder roads, and implement a targeted productivity agenda to lower manufacturing inputs nationwide.
