Floods triggered by record heavy rains have killed at least nine people and left five others missing in central Vietnam

Over 103 000 houses have been inundated, mostly in Hue and Hoi An, the country’s top tourist sites.

The floods have caused widespread property damage, especially during the storm season from June to October. Water levels in Danang have reached maximum depths, and floods continue in low-lying areas along rivers and urban areas.

Landslides have occurred in several areas, cutting off traffic and knocking down power grids. Heavy rain is expected to continue in central Vietnam over the next two days.
