Nine suspects arrested in connection with the killing of a part time lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) are appearing before the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court today.
The matter was postponed last week to allow the accused time to prepare for a formal bail application.
The lecturer was allegedly assaulted and killed by a group of community members in Soshanguve about two weeks ago, following accusations that he had raped two minors aged eight and twelve.
The accused, Koketso Mlambo, Thapelo Mothimane, Maulatlala Solomon, Kholofelo Phasha, Kabelo Mathiba, Koketso Masuku, Lerato Matlala, Marry Masuku and Marry Phasha are all facing charges of murder.
Meanwhile, the brother of one of the accused, Charles Mothiba, says the family is hopeful that justice will be served as the court process unfolds.
