Pan-African Parliament Chief demands stronger global voice for continent

Pan-African Parliament (PAP) President Fateh Boutbig has called for a stronger and more unified global voice for Africa, urging lawmakers to fiercely champion the continent’s priorities on the international stage.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming First Ordinary Session of the Seventh Legislature, set to run from July 20 to August 1, Boutbig highlighted the urgent need for proactive diplomacy. The parliamentary sitting will focus heavily on the African Union’s 2026 theme of water and sanitation, alongside critical discussions on regional peace, economic integration, and gender equality.

Boutbig placed a particular emphasis on the climate crisis, pointing out that Africa continues to suffer disproportionately from its environmental impacts. He urged African nations to hold international partners accountable to their global commitments, ensuring that future climate agreements yield tangible benefits for the continent’s people.
