The US Department of the Treasury recently blacklisted Kabila.
Thousands of pro-government supporters have taken to the streets of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in support of recent United States (US) sanctions imposed on former President Joseph Kabila.
The US Department of the Treasury recently blacklisted Kabila, accusing him of providing financial and technological support to the M23 rebels and the DRC River Alliance, groups that have displaced hundreds of thousands in the country’s conflict-hit east.
While the administration of President Félix Tshisekedi has welcomed the sanctions as a victory against impunity, Kabila’s camp has rejected the allegations, describing the measures as politically motivated and unjustified.
