Cameroon election results
Protests have flared in several cities across Cameroon following partial election results indicating that 92-year-old President Paul Biya is on course to secure another term in office.
The demonstrations come ahead of the official release of election results on Monday, according to local media reports.
Opposition leaders say authorities have detained around 30 politicians and activists in connection with the unrest.
The government has rejected accusations of electoral irregularities and is urging citizens to remain calm and wait for the final results.
President Biya, who has ruled Cameroon since 1982, is currently the world’s oldest serving head of state.
If confirmed, another seven-year term would keep him in power until nearly 100 years old.
