Carlos Queiroz is staying put as Ghana coach after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Sports Ministry agreed on a contract extension.
The 73-year-old tactician is set to sign a new two-year deal now that his initial short-term, four-month contract has wrapped up. His biggest task moving forward will be steering the Black Stars to continental glory at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), as the country desperately looks to end a painful 45-year trophy drought.
Football bosses praised Queiroz’s tactical discipline and immense experience, insisting that continuity is vital off the back of Ghana’s competitive run at the 2026 World Cup, where they made it to the Round of 32 before bowing out to Colombia.
After years of constant chopping and changing in the dugout, the new deal brings some much-needed stability to the national team setup, giving Queiroz a clear runway to prepare for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers and international fixtures.
