The pain of observing fellow Africans commemorate reconciliation, cuts deep for the 24 year old Andrea Bokoro from the war torn eastern parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Not only did the war separate him from his loved ones, it also killed his dream to become a medical practitioner.
As he observes South Africa marking reconciliation month and preaching more unity, he recalls the bloodshed in his country, and how his fellow countrymen continue to endure the rattling of guns, displacing of millions, pushing of others into refugee camps, and many other calamities that have befallen his land of birth.
Bokoro narrates how much he wishes the warring factions in his country could reconcile and start rebuilding from the ashes, some of which cover the mortal remains of his countrymen.
