Some Malawian nationals say they are relieved to be returning home after spending the night at a bus depot near Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, in South Africa (SA).
The group, travelling from the eastern Province of KwaZulu-Natal, halted their journey after drivers raised safety concerns about continuing the trip to Malawi.
SA police also confirmed that the bus had to stop near Johannesburg because the company needed to swop drivers.
Their departure comes amid rising protests against illegal immigration in parts of SA, ahead of a self-imposed June 30 deadline set by some anti-illegal immigration groups.
