The family of a South African (SA) government official whose car was swept away by flood water in Mozambique has confirmed his passing after his remains were found
Andile Mngwevu and three others were found in the vehicle they were travelling in. They all went missing following some parts of Mozambique experiencing severe floods this month. The car was swept away by floods in Chokwe region in Mozambique. The family further has requested privacy as they mourn the loss of Mngwevu.
In a statement released on Tuesday night, Mngwevu’s family says the devastating incident has left themselves, friends, colleagues, and the broader community heartbroken and struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss. He has been described as a loving and devoted husband, and a man whose life was defined by humility and compassion by making a difference in people’s lives. The family says his passing leaves an irreplaceable void and his legacy will forever remain entrenched in the hearts of those who knew him. Details regarding the memorial and funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
