Five hundred journalists have been arrested in the past ten years in DRC

Journalists Without Borders (RSF) says five hundred journalists have been arrested in the past ten years with more than half of the arrests being in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

After being arrested journalists are detained in inhumane conditions.

According to the RSF threats against reporters have intensified in the country as conflict in the East of the country also intensifies.

They mentioned that the country has become one of the most dangerous places for reporters to work in, in Africa’s Great Lakes Region.
