Rwanda has firmly denied any involvement in the renewed clashes between Congolese troops and the M23 rebel

Rwanda has firmly denied any involvement in the renewed clashes between Congolese troops and the M23 rebel movement in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), saying it is not responsible for the latest ceasefire breaches in South Kivu.

Reports from the region indicate that M23 fighters have pushed into Uvira, a strategically important town close to the Burundian border. The advance has raised fresh concerns about the stability of a ceasefire that was negotiated with the backing of United States President Donald Trump.

As the fighting intensifies, growing numbers of civilians are crossing into Burundi to escape the violence. Local officials say the crowds include both residents and some pro-government combatants seeking safety amid the escalating conflict.
