Al-Nuri and other pro-Palestine protesters gathered outside Glencore’s offices in Melrose Arch in Johannesburg, condemning the company’s ongoing shipments. SA is the largest coal supplier to Israel. 2025 projections indicated that 55% of the coal imported by Israel comes from SA. Al-Nuri says it is up to the people to come together to stop the exports.
“Glencore and other co-operations fall to the hands of consumers. Their acts upon what the people wants. So they are the ones in power. People are the ones who have the power. The people have to show cooperations today that we will not support those who stands with these criminals, with these war-mongers, with these baby killers. We should push them away and tell them we support co-orperations with values. We support cooperations who have the ethical means to work in places that do not support this type of manslaughter,” he said.
