South Africa (SA), Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have reaffirmed their strategic partnership after signing a trilateral Memorandum of Agreement to renew the Tripartite Mechanism.
SA’s Minister of International Relations and Co-operation, Ronald Lamola, says the renewed framework reinforces the long-standing cooperation between the three countries and aims to strengthen collaboration on regional priorities.
Lamola says the agreement comes at a time when the global geopolitical environment is becoming increasingly complex, creating both risks and opportunities for countries around the world.
“This important step reaffirms the long-standing and meaningful history of cooperation among the three nations,” Lamola says. “In an evolving global landscape, it is essential that we work together to safeguard our national and regional policy space, protect the territorial integrity of our states, and advance the industrialisation of our economies.”
He adds that the renewed mechanism will also support efforts to enhance climate resilience and promote sustainable development across the region.
The Tripartite Mechanism has historically served as a platform for political dialogue and cooperation among the three countries on regional stability, economic development and shared security interests.
