A 28-member Athletics South Africa (SA) team has departed for the World Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, in the United States (US)
The squad will contest senior men’s and women’s 10km races, U20 events, and the 4x2km mixed relay. Coach Violet Semenya says the team is strong, anchored by Adriaan Wildschutt, with confidence in the relay squad.
Multiple SA record holder Glenrose Xaba will lead the senior women’s 10km team in her fifth successive championship, determined to finish strong against world-class opposition. Relay runner Luan Munnik believes a top-five finish  and even a medal  is within reach if the team performs at its best. Wildschutt, based in the US, will spearhead the men’s 10km squad, while Jayde Rosslee replaces injured Kabelo Mulaudzi. Athletics SA Acting President, John Mathane praised the athletes’ preparation and said they will carry the flag with pride.
